چکیده
Freshwater fishes in the river and lake systems Himalayas Tibetan Plateau are morphologically diverged but evolutionary relationship of putative subspecies separated these freshwater has not been explored. Snowtrout ( Schizothorax spp.) minnows (Cyprinidae) broadly distributed Asia. Body shapes 3 Lake Rara (northwest Nepal) endemics S. macrophthalmus , nepalensis raraensis ) 2 widely riverine species progastus richardsonii across drainages Nepal (i.e. Karnali, Gandaki, Koshi Rivers) were studied using geometric morphometry. Data derived from museum voucher specimens/tissues collected 1984-1986 1996 (Lake Rara). Cartesian coordinates 18 anatomical points (Type I landmarks) 528 individuals digitized; shape variation was then quantified with principal component analysis visualized thin-plate splines a Procrustes analysis. Models taxonomy versus geography) tested multivariate variance morphological distance matrix. Phylogeographic relationships examined haplotype network (N = 115) 1140 base pairs mitochondrial DNA cytochrome b gene, selected GenBank sequences 5). River snowtrout conspecifics, consistent phylogeographic data. In contrast, Gandaki Karnali grouped by morphotype (up- downstream) irrespective geographic origin, yet clustered separately within network. genetically distinct, due to incomplete lineage sorting. Morphological genetic variability represent mosaic driven isolation (= vicariance) specialization adaptation), insufficiently reflecting diversity. Additional data required appropriately derive management effective conservation plans.

Detection of morphometric differentiation in Sattar snowtrout, Schizothorax curvifrons (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) from Kashmir Himalaya using a truss network system.
Schizothorax curvifrons is a morphometrically and meristically most variable and economically valuable promising fish food from Kashmir Valley. Since there is a lack of information on stock structure of wild populations on this species, this study was aimed to investigate the intraspecific variation of this important snowtrout. For this, two rivers and one lake in Kashmir Himalaya were sampled ...
متن کاملCorrection: Deconstructing a Species-Complex: Geometric Morphometric and Molecular Analyses Define Species in the Western Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis).
Morphological data are a conduit for the recognition and description of species, and their acquisition has recently been broadened by geometric morphometric (GM) approaches that co-join the collection of digital data with exploratory 'big data' analytics. We employed this approach to dissect the Western Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis) species-complex in North America, currently partitioned by mi...
متن کاملThe complete mitochondrial genome of Schizothorax yunnanensis paoshanensis (Cyprinidae: Schizothorax).
In this study, the complete mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequence of Schizothorax yunnanensis paoshanensis is determined for the first time. The complete mtDNA genome sequence of S. yunnanensis paoshanensis is 16,585 bp in length. It consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 rRNA genes and a putative control region (D-loop region). The gene order of S. yunnanensis paoshanensis ...
متن کاملSize and shape analysis of two close Cyprinidae species (Garra variabilis-Garra rufa) by geometric morphometric methods
In this study, the shape and size differences between 30 samples of Garra rufa and Garra variabilis species captured in Tigris River were investigated by using geometric morphometric methods. According to the results of this study, there is no difference between these two species in terms of size (CS); however, they are quite different from each other in terms of shape and this difference is si...

This study was conducted to understand the morphological variation of four populations of Schizothorax pelzami from Iranian inland waters. For this purpose, a total of 81 specimens were collected from the Bidvaz, Cheshmeh-Ali, Kalat and Aal rivers. After anesthesia, all specimens were fixed into buffered formalin and transferred to the laboratory. Then, the left sides of all individuals were ph...
